CORYDON SILVER MOON

Born 9th July 1990 - bred by Barbara and John Blake

‘Dotty’ endeared herself to me as a very young puppy. She would come and sit by me when her litter mates would play - probably mostly due to her less sporty outlook on life! Dotty was much treasured, always a very kind and loving ‘person’. Being quite lazy and hating any form of exercise, she was at her happiest rearing puppies, laying on a warm vet bed under a heat lamp, being fed chicken and other goodies! She was the most fantastic mum and loved her babies endlessly right up until they left home.

Dotty won the Limit class at SKC in 1992, she also won the CC and BOB (Mr D Parry) at WKC the following year with John handling her.

I made a drastic mistake with her first litter as, not only did I mate her to a blue (Corydon Moon Miracle) with it's own risks, but I failed to remember and consider that Dotty was white factored. The result was that she whelped a litter of 6 beautiful and strong puppies but 3 were completely white... Another puppy, a male, had some merle markings on one side and a little around one side of his head...we named him 'Snowman' and he went to live with a lovely family locally where he made a wonderful pet and for me it was lesson learnt. In the same litter were two very nice blue bitch puppies although both were heavily marked. One, Phreelancer Silver Phern, went to live with Valerie Bond (Leanor) in Australia where she won Best Minor Puppy In Show at the Collie Club of Victoria Ch Show under Mrs Sandra Wigglesworth and she later won a res CC. However, it was as a brood bitch she excelled as 'Muna' became the dam of champions and also had many champion grandchildren. Her litter sister, Phreelancer Phyllida, went to Anne Freestone (Maycottage) who bred her to Ch Keegan of Karava which resulted in two very nice blue males.

In Dotty's last litter, to Ch Brilyn Rum'N'Black, we kept Phreelancer Phall In Love and another litter sister, Phreelancer Silver Phelicia (owned by Mesdames Moseley & Vogan, Lenosann) went on breeding terms and became the dam of Finnish Ch Phalling Snow of Phreelancer (sired by Ch Corydon Blackcat) who himself became a successful sire in Finland. His sister Phestivity Belle of Phreelancer also won a CC in Finland. More importantly, from the same litter came Ch Phreelancer Phrosty Moon over Corydon, the all time breed record holder in Britain, also winning Best of Breed at Crufts in three consecutive years and we are immensely proud of him and his achievements.

Dotty was a wonderful 'pet', a very special girl, my husband's favourite and is still much missed.
